This is the second column in an on-going series by Dr. Harvey Bigelsen.
He has requested of the editors of this journal that he be given this column to
voice his views. We, the editors of Explore! are proud to grant him this request. He
has demonstrated that he has "Walked his walk," and therefore, he deserves the
space to "Talk his talk". Dr. Bigelsen would
like you, his readers, to send your intriguing questions to him c/o Joannie Dibler,
P.O. Box 87356, Phoenix, Az 85080. The more questions you send him, the more he
can answer. So please! Start them coming!
Do Not Call Me an "Alternative" Physician!
What is in a name? Shakespeare said, "A rose by any other name would
still smell sweet." This is true because a
rose has a distinctive aroma, but words can be very descriptive. For example, what
does "Alternative" medicine mean? Does
it mean alternative to a plumber, a factory worker, an automobile mechanic,
etc.? There is no alternative to what I do. There is only one
Truth! Most "Alternative" physicians are just substituting the
natural remedies for pharmaceutical drugs and are still treating the leaves that are falling
off the tree. I treat the tree! Patients call me and ask me do I do ozone therapy,
for example. I answer, are you buying the therapy or the results? It makes no
difference if I rub chicken bones over their head and they get better, as long as I get
the results. There is no alternative to Terrain.
The Terrain is all. That is the single Truth!
What about "Complementary" medicine? This is an "Uncle Tom" name.
Allopathic medicine has not found the cause or cure of one chronic disease in the
twentieth century. It is the only health care system in the world without a
philosophy. They offer me nothing that would complement my work. I am not
speaking of crisis intervention, in which the medical establishment has made great
strides, but the fact that it is a total failure
when it comes to chronic disease.
What about "Integrative" medicine? Historically, any system that has
integrated into the Allopathic system totally
loses its identity. For example, the Osteopathic profession has lost its true identity.
Andrew Taylor Still, the founder of Osteopathy, would turn over in his grave if he saw
what is happening to his profession today. I can integrate some of their treatment into
my therapeutic regime, but they cannot integrate what I do into their paradigm. If
a patient comes to me and is on heart medication, blood pressure medication, etc.,
I still use my Allopathic knowledge and can use these drugs, but of course, my
goal would be to get them off any chemicals and have the tree thrive, naturally.
There is only one Truth! The Terrain is all! Anyone who truly believes in the
concepts or terms such as Alternative, Integrative, Complementary, really is not seeing
or telling the truth. I believe they truly do not understand or believe in the concept of
pleomorphism and terrain, or frankly, they are just "Uncle Tom's".
There are many different modalities that can be used to get
to the Truth, but there is still only one Truth.
Now the question comes, how do you know when a treatment program is truly
a benefit to the patient? In order to answer this question, one must understand how
disease enters the body and how it leaves the
body. Hering's Laws of Disease and Cure hold true no matter what treatment
modalities are used. These laws are as follows:
