Immanuel Velikovsky: Heretic-Savant
by Walter Radtke

Immanuel Velikovsky created a revolution in astronomy, archaeology and ancient history when his best-selling "Worlds In Collision" was published in 1950. Two generations later, his students continue to challenge accepted dogma about the solar system, archaeological dating methods, ice ages, the extinction of species, the origin of the asteroid belt, the danger of comets of meteors, and the cataclysmic destruction of ancient civilizations by their "planetary" dieties. This article describes Velikovbsky's incredible struggle against academic censorship and the blatant suppression of his work in what was nothing less than a 20th century Inquisition.
